Silence Of Son

With my tears

I resist silence of my son

It was only yesterday

That I held you in my arms

The world calls you forth

To a full thronging immersion

It was only yesterday

That I gave you my breast

Straight back pressed lips

Standing tall fierce lithe

It was only yesterday

I held you on my shoulder

Playing hard till the end

You astonished old men

It was only yesterday

I watched you venture out

Unafraid stoic child of mine

Looking early for friends

It was only yesterday

We walked into the west wind

You would not easily rest so

I lay down with you to sleep

It was only yesterday

We read many stories together

Remember the broken mirror

When it fell on top of you

Crying and frightened I was

There beside you removing

Broken glass from your tiny body

Strongest son in body and soul

Nine fruits of Holy Spirit within

Innocent and stalwart in womb

In amongst a team you dwelt

From first moment of conception
