This Morning - A Poem

This morning.

Before the earth warms.

Before smiles grow

on the faces of children.

Before the adults

curse in traffic.

Before work gets you down.

This morning.

Before education fails you.

Before the postman

delivers bills.

Before that first

morning coffee.

Before someone can

steal your soul.

This morning.

Before life takes it's toll.

Before you realise it's

meaningless.

Before you know

you're too old.

Before it passes

in ebbs and waves.

This morning.

Like any other morning.

Only this one is yours.

And what will you

have done

by the time it's over?
