Exposition
1.
Tristan is silent and psychopathic
Tristan runs from the wind at school
Tristan sees forbidden love and free from the wind
Tristan tells her mom that she loves her
2.
The conversation with her mom after Tristan tells her mom she loves her
She writes in her diary that she's free and draws about it
She hears her family being really happy from upstairs and she hears that they are being cautious.
She has her first happy dream in a decade (also describes recurring nightmare)
3.
She wakes up and talks to her family at breakfast about her situation and how life's changing for all of them
She gets ready for school
She gets on the bus for school and meets friend 2, who is a gay, girl friend of Beckett’s
4.
School starts
She sees the world differently in 1st hour, but still keeps to herself
In second hour she meets her new friend becAuse there is a partner project and a mean girl calls her runner
5.
She's confused about being called runner and remembers yesterday's incident
Third hour is PE, she hangs out with a boy who is alone and pretty mangled most of the time
She has lunch and tries to talk to people but is deniedish because of the mean girl and is very frustrated, the wind makes a tiny comeback but peters out
6.
Tristan is very concerned about the wind, but is determined to keep her social life
She faces the mean girl again in 6th hour,
Beckett is in her 8th hour and she is attracted to him but she doesn't talk to him (she's always had a crush on him but has never acted on it)
She tells Erica, who is also in her 8th hour
Rising Action
7.
Tristan goes to a soccer game of her brother's (she'd never been before)
A boy hits on her that just so happened to be sitting near her
He asks for her number and she gives it to him
Her brother wins the game and she congratulates him and the team
She's left confused as to what happened with the boy but she is happy about it anyway
8.
She asks her mom about what happened with the boy in the morning, who complAins that she's goT to stop asking These things in the morning
She's really embarrassed and confused and is quiet on the bus, overwhelmed by her new life
Her gay friend, Erica, is concerned abound her
After a few minutes, a fight starts on the bus
Tris comforts the loser, who she finds is the mangled boy,

Tris is called to the office in 2d hour
She meets Mr. Scott, the new school counselor who she saw in the hall
She is asked about "the wind" and tris asks if the conversation is confidential, which it is
She tells him about the wind and he tells her about his wind situation.

they agree to meet again soon.
She goes back in 3rd hour and the mean girl teases her, even starts threatening small things, but dark nevertheless, calls her runner
Tris is confused as to why The mean girl, Christina, hates her and talks to Ami about it
The girl gives her dirty looks throughout the day, and Tris can't get her out of her head
After school, Axel offers to help her pull a prank on Christina, but Tris refuses

The next 2 weeks go smoothly; the girl is still mean to her, and it gets worse by the day, but it's not that heavy, and she is much closer to her friends,
They recognize that she is incredibly naive and tells in detail how they get the signals that she doesn't know what something means and they tell her; by the end of the week she is much better, but not nearly there
She is invited to go to the mall in a group of Ami's friends, one of which happens to be Erica, and she goes
The friends talk about dates and boys and such like that as they see Beckett sitting at a mall table with a laptop and they explain that he is one of the most coveted boys in the whole school, but that he's not interested in many
Erica announces to all the friends that Tris thought Beckett is cute and they get her to go talk to him, but they give her some advice first

They send Tris over to talk to Beckett
She comes over and is really awkward in trying to get his attention
Beckett tells Tris to just give it up and a conversation starts and she finds out that he was creating techno-music.
Her friends ditch her with Beckett, but they are really just spying from afar.
At the end they exchange phone numbers
She meets up with her friends and they're super excited.
13.
She goes home thinking about Beckett; she can’t get him out of her mind
Her mom tries to talk to her, but she can’t think of anything to say and is really frustrated with it.
She decides to draw Beckett to see if the diary can take away the endless thoughts so she can conentrate.
It doesn’t work
She gets a text from the mean girl taunting her. She doesn’t know it was Christina.
14.
She doesn’t know whether she should say anything about the text and is kinda “freaky” as my dad would say.
She gets to school and Christina is already on her tail, taunting her worse than usual.
Tristan suspects that Christina may have sent the text, but she quickly disacknowledges the thought, as Christina doesn’t have her number. (dramatic irony)
Tristan snaps back at Christina, triggering the wind
Mr. Scott calls Tristan to the counselor’s room during second hour
RESOLUTION
Mean girl says that she was angry at Tris; she felt like when tris began to have a better life that she was the most unfortunate person in the whole school.
