Whispers of Khul Duhl Suhl
Whispers of Khul Duhl Suhl.

Entry number 5.
Year 1925.
The year of this entry may surprise you, its been over two years since I have written down anything, but finally I decided to sit down and write one final chapter, so if anyone ever read this they would know how mine and Liam’s quest ended.
The events took place at the start of 1923.
We found a town called Trismouth. We stayed in a hotel located in the center of the town named Sea Deeds. It was a three floor building with total of ten rooms. The rooms were very small so Liam and I had one each. The owner was a large man with a deformed face, he inherited this hotel from his aunt and seemed to be very paranoid about people not paying him for their stay.
One of the reasons we came to this town was information and reports we found connecting this place with cults activities and ships and boats going missing. The other reason was the madness which took over our minds, for each night both of us heard whispers telling us of this place, we assumed that could have only been our key adversary, Khul Duhl Suhl, whom we searched for so long. We have heard from others of whispers from the sea that drove them mad and for us, time for action has come.
Upon investigating further and talking to some locals at the bars we learned of a so called Drowners Club, the details were vague, but apparently they always looked for new members, especially outsiders. The eagerness of pale faced locals when telling us to join, alarmed us quiet a bit, especially knowing all the reports about the missing people. However we realized that this could be the best way to find important information.
We arrived at the address give to us on time that was specified. Outside of the door stood five other people, they also were outsiders told about this club and that its the most entertaining thing in the area. The door opened and a gloomy man in black invited us all in. He sat us down in a large room in old metal chairs, there were about ten other pale looking men standing along the walls. He proceeded to tell us that anything that we learned in the club was only for the members and that an initiation ritual had to be made, before all details could be revealed. He instructed all to be at the port the following night at ten sharp.
The next day Liam and I rented a boat and hid behind the cliffs observing the port. Night came and a larger ship docked. The crew was large and we saw the man in black from the club approach it with everyone we saw in the room. The five newcomers were put on the ship, he stuck around looking for us, but then after half an hour he shook his head and boarded. The ship kept sailing along the shore and it was easy to follow it.
Finally it went out more into the water and reached a small island right of the coast where there were no towns or cities, all forests. This island had giant stone structures and cliffs outside of it, in between those was a very large cave opening. The ship docked and several men lead the outsiders into the cave. About a half an hour later, as we both expected, only the locals returned. I did not feel as much horror as I did in previous situations, but I knew that this was something different. Liam spat out his cigarette and told me we will need a ship of our own, grenades, more ammo and also a crew of mercenaries. I agreed as I saw that he indeed had a similar feeling to mine.
We left Trismouth and went to meet with some of Liam’s military friends. They sold us grenades, we also bought another shotgun and plenty ammo, as a crew we didn’t need skilled sailors, but rather violent men. We hired several low lives who knew how to handle guns.
Upon our return to the town of Trismouth we once again waited for the weekly ritual and followed the ship, when it docked we waited till half the crew got of and took outsiders inside the cave. This was when we got docked our ship and attacked. To our surprise they too had rifles and hand guns, we had to use one of our five grenades to create a distraction and cause panic as in a bloody shoot out we killed each one of them while losing few of our crew. More of them rushed out of the cave with rifles and the shooting continued. We sat behind a large rock, Liam and I, peeking out and shooting. When the path was cleared our foolish criminal companions were under an impression that we came to get a treasure inside the cave and they ran in as if to get it before us. Liam and I slowly proceeded into the cave.
It was dark and cold, we used our flashlights and we could see the drawings on the walls of the long corridor. They were all depiction of various sacrificial rituals. That’s what this cave was, a place of sacrifice.
We heard screams from deep within the cave and then there was silence again, only the sound of waves behind us and feeling of a breeze coming from within the cave.
We proceeded with utmost caution and after we could no longer see the opening to the cave we saw a light in the distance. We turned of our flashlights and came closer. It was a circular opening above the cave which allowed the moonlight in and that night the sky was clear and filled with stars. We stood on an edge of a wall and bellow us was a massive oval room. In the center of it stood a tall and thick black structure. Behind this structure on the ground was a wide and long crack in the ground. Darkness filled it. I listened carefully and finally I heard a familiar sound coming from within, like many snakes slithering on the walls. I turned to Liam to tell him that Khul Duhl Suhl has lead us to lair of Daggatthosos, but Liam was already down at the floor level approaching the black structure. I wanted to yell to him, but then I thought not to because the monster would come faster. Liam stood in front of the structure and placed his hand upon it, as he did that, he must have felt something tremendous for he turned his head to me and the look on his face was that of absolute astonishment.
Then dozens of large tentacles emerged from the ground and wrapped around the structure followed by two heads of the giant octopus. Liam ran, but the monster grabbed his leg with one of the tentacles and slowly raised him up, he shot at the tentacle with the shutgun and it dropped him, he ran towards the wall as the monster reached for him again. I threw one of the grenades into furthest tentacles to avoid hitting Liam and it exploded several of them, shattering the tips. The monster let out a horrific ear bursting sound. Liam was climbing the wall, the creature seized him and raised him up again, he lost his weapons. It opened its mouth wide and as it dropped Liam into it he threw two of his grenades inside its mouth. There was an explosion blowing holes in the creatures head, Liam was torn apart, the monster began violently swinging its body and smashing the walls with its tentacles. Its horrible screams intensified. The cave began to shake and pieces of the ceiling of the opening corridor were collapsing, I ran for my life before it all collapsed, but a rock hit me on the head, I fell, but was conscious, as I began to get up a large rock collapsed and smashed my legs. I screamed in pain, the rock shifted to the side freeing my legs, but they were completely broken, I had no time for reason or for pain as I frantically crawled, I could no longer hear the monster or felt it hitting the walls and I assumed it was dead. The walls and ceiling weren’t shaking anymore, but I was in no condition to operate a ship alone, I realized that then. Nevertheless I continued crawling, hope of a human always went hand in hand with fear. When I finally was out of the cave my body was completely exhausted and I lost a lot of blood. I passed out on a rock.
When I woke up I was in a hospital. Pretty nurse named Sue told me I was unconscious for a week. She said I was in Boston and that I was rescued by a fisherman who was lost in those parts due to the storm.
I had broken legs, ribs and a fractured skull, but I lived and Liam sacrificed his life to kill that thing. What did he find out when he touch that black monolith? I will never know, and I’m not sure if I want to know at this point.
I gotten to know Sue very well and weeks later when I was released she invited me to live in her apartment.
Needless to say, now we are married and she’s pregnant. I’m still an investigator, a private eye, but I only deal with small things, to provide for family and nothing more.
I told Sue all about my journey into hellish world of the cult, one thing I did not tell her was that I still heard his whispers in my dreams, beckoning me to come back to the sea, but as times goes by, I hear them less and less, as I also begin to forget Liam’s face.
