Detrimental Elements

i can't understand this infatuation

something is obviously wrong

this simply isn't meant to be

yet we are trying to remain strong

we are shooting for the moon

yet only aiming with harpoons

this isn't supposed to work

look, the forecast is all wrong

together you think we'll make pleasant waves

but in reality we are components of an early grave

we are the detrimental elements of chaos

this is just the calm before the storm

but in reality we are hurricanes being spun

we are the remains of those from World War 1

they say love is a battlefield

and that's how it seems

because we sure look like US against the Vietnamese

this relationship is leaving bullet wounds in me

and you're not ceasing fire by any means

you don't seem to realize that this is hurting me

that this isn't worth the pain you see

we should let go before we self destruct

before we touch and self-combust

i want you to trust and believe

that i'm not doing this just for me

because in the end, this'll hurt you too

but if you want, we can continue

just understand that i warned you.
