"Relax, Take a Deep Breath"

they tell me that i need to calm down

that i need to breathe

but how do i breathe?

when my head is being held underwater

how do i breathe?

when the ocean is sucking me down

they calmly tell me to

"take a deep breath"

as if that would solve anything

how do i live?

when breathing isn't an option

taking a deep breath would only

flood the inside of me like a tsunami

so don't tell me i need to breathe

don't tell me i need to relax

because you yell that from the shore

while jaws smiles in my face

waiting for me to turn as blue as the sea

so he can squeeze my liftless body

in between his teeth

and swim away with a brand new treat

so maybe you need to breathe for me

because right now i need to swim

and do it fast

so don't ask me to relax
