The Dangers of Holding Hearts

i will hold your heart and fall in love instantly.

cradle it as if it were my own newborn child,

and love it unconditionally

i'd do anything to keep your heart mild

i will keep your heart above water,

while i let myself drown.

set myself on fire,

because your heart felt an arctic chill.

sacrifice myself to the wolves,

so you could sleep peacefully

in the dark and lonesome woods.

no, this is not right.

no, no this is not okay.

you cannot treat a queen like any old thing

and still expect to be looked at as a king.

"no more" i say "no more"

there is a change coming that's for sure

i drop your heart made of cheap glass

from 5 stories high into dead grass.

i watched it shatter into crystal clear splinters

like fallen icicles in the north's coldest winter.

i hoped our love would blossom like flowers come spring,

but all i have left is a broken heart full of bee stings.
