The Chronicles Of Narnia; After The End

chapter one

Peter slumped onto the train station bench beside his brother and sisters. He knew none of them wanted to go back to school after coming home from Narnia, for the second time (Edmund and Lucy were really the only ones going to school. Peter had college near the high school, but Susan's school didn't start till a month later, she was just there to say goodbye). But now it was real. Edmund and Lucy wouldn't be going back again either. "I know this isn't what you wanted right now" Susan said and rubbed Peter's arm. "Why does this always happen" Peter grumbled. "Right when things get better we have to leave again" he said again. "It's not ideal" muttered Lucy. "Yeah" Edmund groaned. Susan actually didn't mind that they were home again.

The train pulled up in the station, and the Pevensie's all stood up, Susan hugged her siblings goodbye, before leaving the underground station, just as the train closed it's doors and drove out. The remaining three sat down beside each other on the booth with a grunt. Now Peter had to reassure them that this semester would be great. But he just couldn't pull himself to do so, so they all sat in silence.

There was a screeching of the train trying to break suddenly, and then a big shift of weight, and the train started falling forwards, off the tracks? Lucy gripped the seat below her tightly and shut her eyes. Edmund and Peter both grabbed her hands. The train stopped. And then there was a crash and everything was propelled back. Then there was another crash and everyone was knocked out. It was just darkness.

Lucy's eyes slowly fluttered open. What had just happened and why did her head hurt so much? She slowly sat up and rubbed a sore spot on the back of her legs. She was still wearing her school uniform, but she was in a cold, dark room. No, it wasn't a room, it was a cave, or a tomb. Had people thought she died and buried her alive? She bolted up right and looked around swiftly, with a sigh. Realizing she was in a spacious cave. But why? The last thing she remembered was being on the falling train with her brothers. Where they here too?! Wherever here was. Lucy now stood up and walked around a bit, stretching her legs, which really hurt. This place seemed so familiar to her. There were carvings on the walls of a tunnel just off to her left. She walked over to them and ran her fingers along them, squinting her eyes to see. There was a painting of Tumnus with his red umbrella under the lamppost. "Oh my gosh" Lucy muttered as her eyes widened. She ran from the tunnel out into a big room full of working Minotaurs, centaurs and fauns. "Yes!" Shouted Lucy excitedly. A few creatures stopped and looked at the excited girl but then went back to working. Then, a smile appeared on Lucy's face as Aslan walked in, with Peter and Edmund dressed in chain mail and leather and at his side. Lucy ran towards the big cat and buried her face in his mane and he laughed. His laugh was calming to her. "Oh Aslan" Lucy mumbled and moved back a bit to see his face. "I see you're glad to be back dear one" he laughed again loudly. "Didn't you call for us?" Lucy asked, remembering how she had said that to Caspian only a year or so ago. "No. Do you not know why you're here?" Asked Aslan. Peter and Edmund glanced at each other and then back at Lucy. "Listen. Lu, that train accident?" Peter started to tell her and walked forward. Lucy nodded her head. "We died. Aslan brought us back here right after. He saved us" Peter told her sadly. Lucy's smile dropped. "But. But what about Susan!" Lucy worried. "She's alright" Edmund had said from beside Aslan, his hand on the hilt of his sword. "She won't know we're alright. Can't you bring her too Aslan" Lucy begged. Aslan shook his head, his fur flopping everywhere. Lucy looked down to the ground sadly. "It's alright Lu" said Peter, and lifted Lucy's head back up to him. "We'll be here forever" he said with a smile. Which made Lucy smile a bit. "Come child. There has been some change, not much, but I will show you" said Aslan and led Lucy from the How. "Do you think she'll be okay?" Edmund asked Peter as they watched the two leave. "I hope so" Peter replied. "Come on, there's lots of things that need doing" Peter said again, changing the subject and leaving the How, with his brother following closely behind.

Even from the top of the How Peter could see the entire field, that seemed to spread out forever an ever, till it finally hit the woods again. He could see Lucy and Edmund down below, talking with Aslan and a centaur. He wondered if Aslan was telling Lucy and Ed what he had told Peter. But, Aslan wouldn't do that to them yet, besides, they only just got back, and everyone knew how much Edmund despised the White Witch. Peter sat down on the moss and hung his legs over the edge of the stone, with a sigh and leaned back so he was laying down, looking at the fading light blue sky. Peter loved the narnian constellations, much better then the ones from earth. These ones just seemed more alive in some way. There were light footsteps from behind Peter, he looked back. It was Aslan. He assumed he had sent the younger ones off to bed. Aslan sat down beside Peter without a word, there seemed to be a faint music playing in the background, coming from the woods. Peter looked forward and a saw a roaring fire, with creatures dancing all around it, including Ed and Lu, playing along. "Peter. Why are you worrying so much. It is done. You are alright now" spoke Aslan finally. Peter sighed and sat up, his arms stretched out behind him to prop him up. "I guess you're right" he finally said. "I will make sure your sister is alright" Aslan said softly before he strode off again. Peter knew he meant Susan when he said that, Lucy seemed to be fine now. Peter laid back again and watched the stars before falling asleep atop the hill.

He woke to the sound of a horn blowing, this frightened Peter. He had already forgotten where he was. But he was safe, that was the wake up call for the camp. Peter sat up and looked down at the red and yellow camp below. The narnian flags blowing in the wind. He relaxed on the ledge, just as he heard hooves running up the stone stairs behind him. It was Tiglan, the head faun at camp. "Your majesty" Tiglan said and bowed to Peter. "King Edmund and Aslan want to speak with you." "Thank you Tiglan. Give me a moment" Peter replied. The faun bowed again from the waist and hurried back down the steps. Peter watched him emerge from the cave down below and towards Aslan's tent, then disappear inside. Peter had noticed that there had been a bustle around the camp this morning. He hurried up and to the tent, his hand on his sword scabbard at all times, even though he knew nothing would happen to him in the camp.

Chapter two

Peter whipped the red and yellow curtains of Aslan's tent out of his way as he charged in. "You needed me" said Peter to the lion. Standing around the table, was Edmund, Tiglan, Aldite and Lucy. "There is a deep magic, stirring in the wood, Lantern Waste" Aslan told. Edmund and Lucy had not yet heard this information and the three glanced at each other swiftly. "Is it the white witch again?" Asked Edmund nervously. "I'm afraid we're not exactly sure yet child. That is why you are here. There is something you don't know" spoke Aslan again. All the children were listening intently. As we're Tiglan and Aldite. "You have one chance to visit home. And if you wish, I will allow you to bring your sister" Aslan told the children. They all stood there shocked. "Do you wish to travel home? The portal is still open to the wardrobe, and you will have magic on your side" he said again. Peter looked to his brother and sister, who both nodded their head. "Yes. We accept" said Peter hesitantly. "Very well. We will assemble a party to travel with you to Lantern Waste and wait till you arrive again" said the lion and started to leave the tent. "Call the soldiers" he said again, specifically to Tiglan and Aldite. Aldite followed Aslan and stood at the front of the camp. "Narnian's!" Aldite shouted, stomping his horse hooves on the dirt. Their focus was all directed to the centaur now. "Aslan has asked for 5 soldiers to step forward, and join our Kings and queens to Lantern Waste!" He shouted again. There was mumbling going g around the crowd. "I'll go" called a faun, stepping forward. "Good man" replied Aldite. "I will go too." "As will

I" called out to centaurs. A few more piped up and that was the group. "Good. You all shall meet in the armoury now." The soldiers marched off to meet Aslan, Peter, Lucy and Edmund in the armoury.

The woods seemed different, scarier, then the last Lucy had remembered them. All of the swirling leaves were rushing, and you could hear rustling in the bushes almost everywhere you went. She stayed beside Peter the whole time, even though she knew how to fight off creatures, but not bears, or lions. Aldite raised his arm and the whole troupe stopped moving and stood silent. One of the leopards sniffed about. The groups started to move again, but taking a little detour, walking around the danger zone. They had left at morning, and now it was sunset. "I think it be smart to set up camp now, your majesty" spoke Aldite. Peter looked up, trying to spot the hiding sun. "Ay. Set up camp everyone!" Called Peter. There was a bustle to get out the supplies before settling down and lighting a fire.

Lucy seemed to be the only one left awake. Laying on her back looking up at the so familiar narnian constellations. She sighed loudly. "You alright Lu?" came a voice. It was Edmund. He moved over so he was right beside her now. "Yeah" she answered, still looking up. Edmund laid down on his back too. "Look, Lu, up there. Doesn't that one look like-" "-Mr. Tumnus" Lucy finished his sentence. She had also spotted the constellation. "I miss home" Lucy finally said. "Me too Lu. But imagine, we get to be in Narnia for the rest of our lives" Edmund said, trying to brighten her spirits. "Hopefully with Susan too, she's what I miss the most" Lucy said again. Edmund didn't say anything after that, he didn't think it was necessary. So they both just laid in silence till one fell asleep. That one happened gone Edmund. Lucy on the other hand couldn't sleep, and she could hear rustling in the bush. She thought it better to wake Peter for this. She crept around the camp. "Peter. Peter wake up!" She whispered, gripping his by the shoulder and shaking him slightly. "WhatisitLu" Peter mumbled. "Peter there's smithing else here, wake up!" Lucy said again and this time he was awake, with his hand immediately on his sword. "Where did you hear it Lu?" He asked as they both stood up. Lucy pointed ahead to where they both saw movement. Lucy got out her bow and arrow. "You stay here, I'm going to check it out" he told her. She didn't want to leave him but thought it best to let him do his thing. Peter walked farther into the woods, he could bolo her feel the heat of the fire. He knew something was in here. He looked at the foot prints in the dirt. Human? Why was a telmarine wandering the wood. "Hello?" Peter called out. "W-who's there stuttered an oddly familiar voice. Peter squinted his eyes and looked forward. There was a man standing under a big tree, with his sword held out in front of him. "It's alright. I'm the high king, you don't need to fear me" Peter called and walked towards the character. His jaw opened slightly when he saw who it was. "Caspian?" He questioned. It took Caspian a few seconds longer to realize that it was Peter. "Peter" he said and lowered his sword, as did the king. "What are you doing out in the wood at this hour?" Peter looked around. "Alone" he added. "Well you see, I got back to Telmar, but they didn't want me there. They still don't like the Narnian's, so they told me to leave. And I never really knew my way around these wood. So I'm lost" he sulked. "Follow me" said Peter with a small smile. "I think the others will be glad to see you" he said again, and Caspian followed beside Peter back to the sleeping camp. "Should you really wake them?" Caspian asked Peter as they stood around the sleeping soldiers. Peter sighed but didn't say anything. "They've been asleep for a while already, we should start traveling anyways" Peter finally said. "No!" Caspian interrupted. "Don't travel in the wood during night. It is not safe" he said worriedly. Peter put an arm on Caspian's shoulder. "Then get some rest, we'll be up in another hour" replied Peter. Caspian smiled and found a dry patch of grass to lay on near the fire.
