Cobwebs

I sweep the cobwebs from my skull

and find only

A full stop

.

in the middle of a blank page

I unwind the cobwebs from my ribcage

Stitch 'love' into a piece of paper

And call it a poem

I twist sticky cobwebs through my fingers

Throw my lasso round his neck

Leave it bruised

I tangle sticky cobwebs round my legs

Trip and fall

Just to make him kiss my bloody cheek

And carry me home like a daddy long legs

I throw my cobwebs in the sea

Fisherman ov vy

Trawling up fish like bad memories

Give them a lick and throw them back in

I'll gut anyone who touches his slippery skin

I kiss lifeguards, I drink wine with arch dukes

I grab each whistling fish by the tail and throw them back, back, back in the sea

I've chosen

This little Welsh mackerel for my tea

I've taken a broom to every angle and surface of this silly little bone house

For you love, I'll even clean my room

Take a seat

One day, maybe, I'll bring you round

To soup and socialism

I'm sorry for the dust

Please ignore my leaking eyes

Give it time and it'll settle
