Westworld Season 3 Review

A member of the Flix406 crew watched the brand new season of the show “Westworld” on HBO. Here is the review:

Westworld is a series created by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy. The show stars Evan Rachel Wood, Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright, Ed Harris, Tessa Thompson and Luke Hemsworth. The new season added the arrivals of Aaron Paul and Vincent Cassel.

Westworld is a show where you’re not always sure of what’s next or what is actually going on. And that’s what makes it so unique.

The show originally started in a western-themed amusement park. It showed us the interactions between humans and robotic hosts.

In seasons 1 & 2, these hosts of the parks start to think and act on their own, which sparks a giant scale uprising in the park.

These chaotic events lead to the story reaching the outside world, and that is where the 3rd season picks up.

The new season focuses on the host known as Dolores, who is plotting a giant scaled revolution. Dolores is also the one who staged the revolt inside the park during the first two seasons.

She employs the help of Aaron Paul’s character. Their revolt does not come without pushback though. Other hosts working for other parties challenge Dolores’s plans, along with hosts who don’t want to see anymore damage be done.

Throughout the season, it is clear that free will is an issue that both hosts and humans struggle to obtain, and keep.

The 3rd season saw some new things in the Westworld setting come to light. The new season was only 8 episodes, as opposed to the usual 10. However, there was more action sequences in this season than there was in the first two.

These 8 episodes felt like a breath of fresh air with all the action, but it also felt like the show moved away from complex story telling.

That being said, the main events of the season were easier to follow, and it didn’t split off much to tell other stories like it has before.

The cast was amazing as usual. 28 episodes of telling these complex stories and the cast still does an amazing job of playing it out. Aaron Paul was also a great addition to the show, being able to show off his chops.

Overall, the new season wasn’t exactly the best out of the 3. Fortunately though, it was the most exciting series of episodes from the show so far.

The new storyline of the show will make for more excitement and thought-provoking story telling, as the 4th season has already been announced.

The new season was a joy to watch and the Flix406 crew cannot wait for the story to continue in the next season. Whenever that may be!
