Birds of Prey

The crew from Flix406 saw Birds of Prey recently. Here’s our review:

The film was directed by Cathy Yan. Starring in the film was Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Ewan Mcgregor as Roman Sionis/Black Mask, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Helena Bartinelli/Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Dinah Lance/Black Canary, Chris Messina as Victor Zsasz, Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya and Ella Jay Basco as Cassandra Cain.

The movie kicks off with Harley and her breakup with some guy they call the Joker. Next, Harley spends time dealing with people that she has done wrong to in her past, now that she is on her own.

Unfortunately, these events cause a run in with Black Mask, a notorious villain in Gotham. He is trying to gain a stolen valuable back from Cassandra Cain. Harley and Cain later come together and form a team with the Birds of Prey (Huntress, Canary and Montoya). Together they must take on Black Mask’s pursuing forces.

Birds of Prey is a fun and colorful movie. There is plenty of humor, unique characters and action. Seriously guys, the action scenes are absolutely awesome. Margot Robbie achieves another great performance as Harley Quinn, providing even more depth to the character

A phenomenal part of the movie was Mcgregor as the twisted, insane and hilarious villain Black Mask. Smollett-Bells debut performance as Black Canary was also amazing.

The second act of the movie (middle) seemed to really drag on. It was almost to the point that you were waiting a while for the next exciting thing to happen. However, many things in the movie made you forget the slow part of the story and kept you in the fun.

Birds of Prey definitely left a good trail for future DC movies. The crew is hoping to see the Birds of Prey in another DC project sometime soon!
