In the midst of change
By Kasey Easter
Everyone has heard of the word evolution. But what is evolution? We read about it in schools yet we can only connect it to "something about monkeys becoming people." But we can't feel it. Nor can we see it as it happens. We just see the past effects evolution has had on our species by looking down the road where we started. Like we are driving a car in reverse, but the car is our life. But where is it going? Now ah days I believe that people have the very strict mind set that evolution is reserved for lesser animals. They don't actually believe there is a possibility that they are an entity in the universe that has become aware of its own existence. In this day and age, it's obvious that most humans are so caught up in there own simple doings, they have lost the connection with whom and what they really are in order to further a fake fabricated agenda. How does one escape a perpetual obliviousness for self awareness? Where do we draw the line? When do we realize that this is our life, yet we have failed to live it.
1. Waking up
When one thinks of sleeping they would say that being asleep is a type of auto pilot. You fall into a dark quite trance where your sub-conscious brain begins all its repairs that the conscious brain has made on your body. Like lifting weights to tare your muscles or distributing the vitamins takin from the food you have eaten, so on and so forth. But can you be asleep, while awake? Can you walk the earth in a linear fashion with preconceived ideas on how you believe the day should go? Yes! For a matter of fact, we all do it! For example, the first thing I thought about today was. "Well I should probably get up and around, pay some bills, make a little extra money so I can be ahead." What is that? Those are the very thoughts of someone who has been exposed to human society. Which leads us to the question. What is it like to be awake? How do we determine reality from human construct? Well its simple for some, and difficult for others. But to explain it, is to teach it, and to teach it, is for someone to learn, and to learn is to evolve the mind. This is where we find the tragic misstep in human evolution. All around the United States you see a common tragedy which is that, we humans have stopped looking at education as an essential part of living. We have become just intelligent enough to ride on the shoulders of greater people that leaves the masses in the wake of the elite. In this misstep humans with a lower intelligence will eventually accumulate in numbers that will lead to a saturation of undereducated people that will essentially lower the average intelligence of our species that in time will reverse the evolution process. So what's the remedy? Well to understand that you are an entity in the universe that has discovered its own existence in a strange and mystical realm of reality of infinite possibilities would be a hell of a start.
2. What are you?
Knowing what you actually are, and understanding yourself is the first step to enlightenment, or evolving into a higher being with extraordinary potential. For example, do you think any great musician gained there abilities by just wishing they were good at music? No, they sat in a room and played day and night, until they (literally) evolved into a musician. Evolving is no more than to change for the better. Although change is not an easy part of life which I will get to later. But most people in our day and age look at humans as a gift to the earth. They see us as a species above the rest. That a God put us here to what, occupy space? But in reality humans are just the only species to awake from the simpler algorithms of being alive, like you see in dogs. When dogs see a ball, they actually see something to pray on, or GAME! They don't see a spherical lump of polyurethane that was probably constructed in a factory somewhere across the seas. They just see a ball! That is the difference from being self aware and just being a dog. We are not any more "alive" than the dog, we just have a lot more algorithms firing in our brain to construct a more complex reality. So to apply this thought to ourselves is easy for humans to take this gigantic difference between us and "lesser animals" and put ourselves in the category of "special". When in deed, yes this ability to understand and process our surroundings does give us an edge to the lesser evolved, we are still just accumulations of star dust suspended in infinitely vast space on a infinitely small rock also made of stardust. So once we can get past the idea we are special we can begin to concentrate on how we can better ourselves as a species, and like I said earlier, that is to evolve.
3. Living, it's not easy
When a human is asleep like we talked about in the paragraph before, we will see that most people will construed the world to there liking. They fumble around thinking that everything is in there best interest. That they will never die, or that a tornado will never hit there house! That's just for those people on tv, don't you know? When living in this mind set humans began to stop trying to improve themselves weather it be intelligence, or it be health. People never actually theories that this place just might be trying to kill me. And it is! Reality is absolutely not at our mercy, we are absolutely at the mercy of reality, and in a time we were just microscopic live forms we used our ability of evolution to cling to what life really is. And with out that constant fear that life is not always sunshine and Netflix. We become vulnerable and lazy. The Buddhists believe that to exist is to suffer, there for, they search for the path of enlightenment to escape there perpetual existence of suffering.
3. Where are we now
Wow, where to start. Humans have created advances in science that could propel humans into a bright, clean, healthy, self sustainable future. We have learned to capture sunlight, water, wind, and other clean forms to generate power, yet we still destroy the earth and ground for liquefied fossil bones, to power our exstreamly inefficient machines. Not only do we destroy the earth to get fossil fuels but we also invade other country's and creat wars for the substance. Even worse, it's all for an imaginary monetary system that has the entire population fooled. Because they are asleep. Living the lives they were told to live because that's the way things are.
So to conclude, I would hope this piece has tought you we are living in a time of change. Today the youth is being pressured in ways unimaginable, from social media to parenting. We as a people are becoming more disconnected, and now is the time to learn that if no action is takin, we are heading for dark times and the only salvation is action in our community's. I hope that someday the small sparks struck from the small population of people, whom have discovered a greater existence, will create a fire that will burn through all the hearts of mankind. To create a better life, for growth and understanding. For humans to see that in all our numbers, in reality we are just one organism upon a spec of dust, enjoying the ride. Much love.
