Mini-Story: The Grocery Store

I pushed the creaky cart, as I looked over my long list filled with veggies. Lots of scribbled requests: her favourite cereal, Bear Paws, chicken nuggets, crinkle-cut fries, chocolate, ice cream, gummy bears and worms. I sighed as I looked to little girl next to me. Her hand in my pocket, tight blonde pigtails.

I lead her to the produce and asked her to pick out some berries. She came back with blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries. She’d stacked them too high, though, and they toppled down. She cried. I patted her head then told her that, she tried hard and doesn’t have to carry so much.

While I’m the bakery, I watched her as she fawned over the all pretty desserts. I asked if she’d like to change her list. She chose to switch her chocolate and gummy candy to tarts. I gave her a high five.

When we made it to the checkout, I smiled wide and let her know how well she did, today.
