DAMIAN GARSIDE

FORGOT TO SING

The plane's engines once

forgot to sing

and we

assumed the

emergency position

braced for

impact

for the totally unknown

the

ground of

our ground surreally looming

and in our prayers hoping

to remember to ask

that He remembers

the physics

(Quantum, Newtonian) of

the Universe

He created

how metal

shears

how the grooves in

a tyre cling

and as for

walls of fire, to

forget our love of

spectacle

in this instance, not

a perfect ending.
