Vows

He stood across the room from whom he'd held naked in his arms...

long black dress, her brown eyes lightened with such poise and grace...

"Don't" she tried to say, as she fixed her eyes on him.

Porcelain doll so blushed, it was a shame to light up such perfection.

He stood across the room from whom he had loved one too many times.

The perfect seconds to run, he thought as

She whispered "I love you"

He traced every curve and valley of her shadow.

"Do you take me" he started to say...

Her eyes shining, as she held back her tears

And the room suddenly felt alone. The guest mumbling memories of perfection.

His eyes fixed on her while taking someone else's hand..

The room suddenly felt smaller.

A triangle of what's right and love...

His eyes never left hers, as she walked the room fixed with love and bad timing.

He finished his vows.

She smiled as his happy days exit his heart and departed into thin air as she walked away.

"I do" he said

As she paused one last time, with veins full of gin and tonic.

"I love you" he whispered and he sealed his fate, as the rain sealed the drought in the highest mountains.
