The Guild of Five Prologue

Mother Nature paced anxiously around the room. The rest of The Guild was holding off The Force of Evil and wouldn't be able to much longer.

"Mother Nature, Iresh has been hit!" Vahni shouted, bursting into the room. He was obviously distressed that Iresh was hit, all of The Guild members were very close, but the two boys were almost inseparable.

Mother Nature also realized that Iresh was dying. Not only could she feel it, by Vahni didn't use her name, Damia, only her official title.

"Bring him here. Summon everyone, put up a force field to buy us time also." Damia knew that now was the time. Vahni nodded and rushed out of the room.

If Iresh's powers weren't at least saved then the world would surely be thrown into turmoil. Damia would do all she could to save Iresh too, she did love him like a son.

"I'm fine! Vahni is just overreacting," Iresh said as he limped into the room. Damia gave a sigh of relief that he wasn't seriously injured.

The two girls soon followed Iresh in. Arethusa was also obviously worried. She was the worry wort of the group, while Makani was more worry free.

"Is it t-time?" Arethusa asked while messing with her hands. Damia gently took her hands in hers and nodded.

"Yes. Follow me. How well can you walk, Iresh?" Damia questioned, turning to him.

"Well enough. Let's go!" He ushered. Damia nodded as the building shuddered, the force field was wearing out.

"Come on!" She shouted as the attacks continued. The five of them rushed out of Mother Nature's room and through The Guild of Five's headquarters.

After many twists, turns, and corridors they came to the basement. As they crept slowly down the stairs Vahni used his powers to light the torches as they came to them, and Makani used her powers to blow them out so if the enemy infiltrated the fortress they wouldn't know they'd been down here.

"Almost there," Damia muttered at they went down one more corridor. She unlocked a large, iron door and the five walked in and Damia closed it once they were all inside.

"What now?" Vahni questioned, his voice echoing through the chamber. Damia walked to the center and removed a silken sheet from a wooden table.

The table had many ornate carvings representing the elements, and on it floated an indigo orb. It radiated power and magic.

"What's going to happen to our powers?" Makani asked, finally using her tiny voice.

"No clue," Arethusa sighed.

"You're powers will be transferred to four newborns, born at the exact same moment, and in exactly 16 years they will be summoned here somehow," Damia explained.

"Magic is very exact," Iresh joked. Arethusa glared at him while the others laughed.

Magic was exact. If it wasn't things could go horribly wrong. But this isn't about that.

"Now, place your hands on the orb," Damia instructed. They all went to do as they were told.

"Wait! What's going to happen to us? Not our powers. Us," Vahni asked. The others mumbled an agreement, but quieted when the building shook again.

"I've prepared you an apartment where you all will be roommates with a girl named Lanie and her husband Ace. They'll help you integrate into the regular human lifestyle. Once your powers are gone you'll be teleported there. Don't worry, I'll check on you and we'll keep in touch," Damia explained.

The Guild hugged Damia and said their goodbyes taking deep breaths they gently touched the orb at the same moment. They were all gone in an instant.

Letting only a small tear escape, Damia ran up the stairs to fend off the attackers, praying the for the four children who had just given up their powers, and the four who had just received them.
