The Hunger Games

Chapter 1:

It was the morning after the 76th hunger games, and I thought it would be the last games but,the new president died in office. The people voted and elected a new president of Panem.President Nora Scott.

President Nora Scott was set on bringing back the hunger games.She wanted to make sure she had no rebels.She said in about a week the districts you were formally in need to get in a group.People will draw names out and then leave to go in the arena.

That’s it. That’s what Peeta,Hamitch, and me just got done watching on the tv. After all we did to make it a free nation and bad rulers just come in like that,I thought.

I look at Peeta who you can see is about to break something.

“Katniss what do we do”he asks

“I’m not sure” I say.

We sit there for it seems like an hour and all of us are trying to take in what just happened.Then we quietly leave the room ; no one says a word.

The next day I get out of the bed having felt like I didn’t sleep at all do to all the new nightmares and all the new helpless kids who are going to be put into the arena.

Haymitch and Peeta come over for breakfast. Peeta made his awesome cinnamon rolls and we ate all dozen of them.

“We need to think of something we could do to put an end to this” I say.

“What can we do ?”asked Peeta

“Maybe you all should be worried about yourselves.You do know that since your both still 17 you still have a chance of being put back in the arena.”

“We have already been there 3 times I don’t think a 4th could hurt” I say.

That’s when I got the idea.Me and Peeta could volunteer to be the tributes from 12. We could get in, ally all the teens, help them survive, and figure out how to stop them for good.

I tell all this to them and they seem distant. Peeta says” If this means more lives will be saved then I’m in.”

I smile back and Hamitch nods his head. I guess that’s the plan. Me and Peeta are going back in the arena. I’m not even upset, after all we have done this should be easy. The real issue is how to stop the games for good.

In the next couple of days before the reaping we train. It’s not only Peeta I’m trying to keep alive this time I’m trying to save all of them. I have to stop the games once and for all.
