DAMIAN GARSIDE

SPICA

I was Lear running on

absolute empty

down by the

sea at low tide

gathering mollusks, for

sure one can appreciate

the shape and

perhaps the taste thereof

and Mars in Virgo nestling

close to giant star Spica

in all her majesty

Queen of

that constellation

and here on Earth her

orange avatar

fire orange, burn orange,

daughter-

of-Mars orange

held me for

a moment, just the

breath of

a moment

and the

tide returned, the stars

swung across the sky

thinking, guessing

space might

need to

be made for

new

constellation

and now

it is ancient memory, this

running on empty.
