The Little town of Oakdale began as a lakeside outpost, where travelers could rest. A pair of brothers Ronald and Richard Dodson set up a bar next door. By 1888 a little town had sprung up.
In 1911, Oakdale was selected as the home of a new national guard base. Camp Knox was founded a short way from the township.
By the 1950’s Oakdale was bustling town, with its newly built Schools, and football field (Go Boars!). It soon became a vacation hotspot where its warm hospitality, great food and beautiful lake.
1988 Oakdale proudly held its first Pear festival. Where Oakdale celebrated its one hundred year anniversary. With a parade by the national guard, charity football game, and a local fete. The Pear festival is celebrated every year, and attracts visitors nationwide.
