DAMIAN GARSIDE

HER POEM IS BEAUTIFUL

Her poem

is so gorgeous

I would eat it

slowly, piece by

piece

tearing succulent strips away

as though I were a

single piranha

but anaconda is

more my game

so let

me swallow

whole

take time to

digest

I am

in no hurry

no one

is going anywhere

Living Gods

“Perfect...They...are all...perfect” Samurai Lord Katsumoto (Ken Watanabe) The Last Samurai

those cursed cherry trees

and their

kamikaze blossoms whose fluttering words of mortality

extended into the text of a

suicide manual

speak the truth of living gods to robot subjects

whose bone, whose skin

pushed through meat-grinder, burnt by

flame-thrower

will be the ultimate sacrifice in this

divine war of attrition

where victory is

a thing contested cave by cave

and melted love ones

(the remains thereof)

are

carried to decent burial in

a bucket
