Story by Michael Marie Marley Jackson

Of Denver Colorado and now living in West Hollywood California

Age 15

As a child growing up it was hard. As a boy. I loved to play monsters and Cowboys but when my twin cousins Chloė and Samantha wanted to play tea party princesses and I wanted to play monsters. But my cousins always wanted to play tea party princesses. I always felt left out while my cousins were playing and I was the oddball out. So one day I went to school in a dress. My classmates made fun of me and I always played by myself during outside play after lunch. It got so bad that my mother and father had to pull me out of school and home schooled me. When I started sixth grade I asked my parents for my eleventh birthday which was on June twenty five to have my sex change operation. I grew out my hair and I have been taking hormone replacement drugs for my transformation. On June twenty five two thousand and ten I was ready. Two days later I was now a girl. My mom cried and my daddy smiled. For the next couple of days it was hard. My mother taught me on how to be a young lady. On Saturday my mom took me to the Aurora Mall to pick out my very first outfit. I went in to Forever 21. I found a cute pink and purple halter top with a purple and pink mini skirt and purple and pink leggings and I found these really cute bright pink wedge shoes with purple beads on them. Then I went and found some matching accessories like jewelry and a cute pink and purple purse and wallet. Then it was time to get my very first bra. I felt weird when a lady was measuring my chest for the right bra. After the lady was done she found one. I went into the dressing room It was hard at first so I had slipped the bra on like a shirt and stuffed my breasts in the bra. Five minutes later I came out. My mom cried. As I took my first steps on womanhood. We spent the entire day getting my ears pierced through getting my hair nails and makeup done. I went home and showed my daddy my brand new look. My daddy got out of his easy chair looked at me for ten minutes and gave me a hug and a kiss on the cheek. As weeks gone by and my closet is now filled with girl clothes. I sat on my bed looking at all of my pictures of me as a little boy never really smiled because I was ridiculed for wearing girl clothes so I took all of my picture excluding my baby photos I went out back to my parents wood burning grill. I got everything ready. So I started the fire then I threw all of the pictures in the fire . It was like a celebration for me on my new found life. I feel a sense of relief. One day I came home from shopping I went upstairs and found a brand new army outfit. You see my father was in the army in the war in Iraq. So I looked on the bed there was a short sleeved army cameo shirt with matching short shorts leggings a hat and some really cute black army type hi heeled boots. The on top of the shirt was my daddy' s army dog tags that he wore when he was in the Iraqi war. I rushed down stairs to find my father. He was in the garage. My daddy saw me and I thanked him for the cute outfit. One day when my mom was home schooling me I got a call on my cell phone. It was my two uncles Uncle Nick and Uncle Sean. They have not seen me since the day I was born. They both live in West Hollywood California. My mom sent a school photo of me as a boy to my two fave uncles. We had talked for hours on end. Then uncle Nick asked me if I want to live with them I told them I had to ask my parents if I can move in with you and Sean. So give me a minute. So I had set the phone down and called my parents in the family room. Uncle Nick asked me I wanted to live with him and Uncle Sean in West Hollywood. I told them my parents that I did not have any friends out in Denver and it will be a brand new experience for me making friends and going to school. My parents wanted me to be happy. They said "yes". So I ran up stair to pack up my clothes basically I packed up my entire room and my mom sent everything in the mail. So I told uncle Nick the fabulous news. He was so excited to see his nephew and he only saw me in pictures that my mom was sending him. My daddy paid for my plane ticket to West Hollywood. This will be my last time to see my parents. As the hours went by it was time for me to go. So I gave my parents a hug goodbye and loaded up on the plane. I was off to West Hollywood. A few hours later I have arrived. I was looking for my two uncles. Finally found them. I ran up to them and hugged them. The did not know who I was they were expecting a boy named Michael. And they called my name and I respond to them. They were shocked that the little boy in pictures that they saw was now a girl. They took me home. They gave me a tour of west Hollywood. I saw rainbow flags everywhere! Then they took me to my new home. It was HUGE! As I went inside I explored inside my new abode my new home for the rest of my life. I ran upstairs and saw Uncle Nick and Sean putting my thighs away I was not expecting it at all! A few months went by I kept in touch with my parents in Denver a lot. The next day my two uncles took me shopping for my very first gay pride Fest outfit accessories included in west Hollywood. So I found a really cute rainbow flag dress and it came with rainbow colored jewelry and a rainbow flag hair band and I found a really cute bright pink purse wallet and wooden heeled wedged shoes that were also bright pink. My uncle Nick paid for my first Gay Pride Fest outfit. The day of the fest had arrived. My two uncles woke up early. I smelled breakfast cooking I got cleaned up painted my nails with rainbows and got dressed. Then I was ready I was downstairs. Both uncle Nick and Sean said "good morning sweetheart" as the each gave me a kiss on my cheeks. I sat down to eat. Uncle Nick told me how the west Hollywood does pride fest. I was all excited to go. My uncles were ready to go. The fest was underway I was having a fun time. The I saw a boy sitting at a table all alone. So I slipped away from my uncles to talk to this boy. I sat along side with him watching the parade. As I was talking to him I told him my story and about my life. So the boy started to talk to me. When he was done that he was in fact a lesbian and love wearing all boy clothes. I fell in love with Alex Stevens. I gave her my cell number to call me if she waned to go out on a date. I took a picture of her and me. My uncles were watching me and both smiled. I am now happily sharing my life with my girlfriend of six months. So you see I was once a shy little caterpillar as a boy and now I came out of my cocoon and emerged into this beautiful butterfly and spread my wings and fly fly away. So if I had inspired any of you guys to break out of your cocoons and be that beautiful butterfly that you were meant to be then I am proud of you and I believe in each and everyone of you. And I love each and one of you my gay brothers and sister and also my trans brother and sisters who are waving the rainbow flag with me.
