MLB The Show 20

A member of the Flix406 team recently played MLB The Show 20. It released on March 17th. Here is the review:

Created and developed by SIE San Diego Studio, The Show returns to root, root, root, for the home team. While not much has changed since ‘19, the game feels as crisp and clean as ever.

The visuals are still there and it is clear this is the baseball king of video games. The presentation has you feeling like you’re at the game, but there are also quick-play options for those looking to pull a fast one.

Mechanically the game is sound and offers many different ways to pitch and swing the bat. New players to the game shouldn’t have a problem picking up and rolling and vets have an array of ways to improve their game.

Game modes this year range from Play Now, to the series favorite “Road To The Show” which has you creating and leading your player to the big leagues.

My personal favorite franchise mode is back and it seems untouched, which is fine. It offers the opportunity to rebuild a struggling program or take off with a hot team and fight your way to October.

Diamond Dynasty, a mode that allows you to play to unlock card packs which contain players, seems a lot more solid this year. Finding those rare players is a bit more difficult but it keeps the online gameplay balanced and makes for some great online matchups against other players.

Overall I’m satisfied with years product. I’m not mind blown but I’m not underwhelmed by any means. I look forward to seeing this baseball sim on next-gen hardware when the PS5 and Xbox Series X arrive. Check out the trailer for The Show in the link below!
