How to explain Jesus to a shopaholic
Picture this...
You're walking into your favorite clothing store and immediately you see things that you want. Coats, over sized T-shirts, distressed jeans, boots, and those super comfy puff sweaters that are really in right now. Even the smell of the store is such a pleasant sent. So good you don't want to wash the smell out of the clothes.
You grab two shopping bags and begin tossing all the wonderful items into them, not even checking prices because you came prepared with gift cards and coupons. You're a regular customer so the employees always greet you with a warm "welcome back" smile.
Heaven.
After you've gathered all your items and experienced all the good things about shopping, you go to the register to purchase your new wardrobe. God, the cashier, starts ringing up your items and your total comes to a price far beyond your budget. As a matter of fact the price is so much no one could possibly pay for it.
When God notices that you cannot leave happy and knowing that you'll come back, His heart breaks. He says "Hold on, I can fix this," and turns to Jesus who was next to Him.
"Son, you have all the riches in the world... will you pay for this kind lady?"
Without a second thought and without your permission, Jesus walks around the register, and swipes His card.
"Done. You're good to go!" He says with such a kind voice and He carefully packages each item with love.
Jesus died for you knowing that you were going to come to Him unprepared. Your gift cards and coupons won't save you. But It doesn't change anything. Because He loves you so much, He voluntarily swiped His card so you can leave happy and so that you can come again.
