Opposites Attract
Chapter 1-The Beginning
Maria's POV
My alarm goes off. I get up and do my usual routine. Get dressed, eat, brush teeth, help dad get the boat ready to go when I get home, and go to school. Besides that one tiny thing, I'm just like anybody else. After school, I go to the dock in front of our house. Looking out onto the turquoise water and watching my dad tying down the boat. "You ready?" He says getting into the boat. "Dad, I've done this thousands of times. I think I know what I'm doing." I say untying the rope. I push the boat, with my dad in it (who was surprisingly light), of the shore and into the water. I get into the rustic boat before it floats away. When we're a good distance from the dock, my dad casts a line and I dive into the semi-cold salt water. "You gonna be okay sweetie?" "I'll be fine dad. Besides, the championship is coming up and I to train. I'll see you in a bit." "I'll be right here darling." And I left. The national championships were coming up and I was one of the few to get in. I have to win this. For my dad. He needs the money more than I do. Ever since my mom left us last year, my dad's been struggling with money. He says he's fine but recently he's been getting angrier. He takes it out on his stuff but, I just keep wondering how long it'll be before he gets to me. I continued to focus on my training.
