The Insignificant Seven
They say we should learn from history. We don’t. Even those intellectual guardians of democracy, our safety, rights and needs are not immune from personal satisfaction, no matter how destructive that quest may be to the greater good.
No doubt the second incarnation of 1981’s ill-fated SDP will repeat the same historical trajectory of its forebears and wreak havoc on our ‘restoration’ of the Labour Party. We are certain not to win the next election. The vote will be split and Labour will be forever seen as a party supportive of extremist Leftist politics with Corbyn as our very own Lenin. Labour seems to be consumed with self-destruction, even when the odds are in their favour.
The 7 former Labour MP’s are nothing more than self-serving backstabbers, putting personal ambition ahead of.....and this is no exaggeration.....the very LIVES of the poor and vulnerable in this country. Thousands have already died because of austerity politics which have been wholeheartedly condemned time after time and yet Labour fail to seize the moment.
The sad thing is that the newly resurrected Labour movement has galvanised the young. Those who have been cast aside by the Tories disinterest in their very future have flocked to the promise of a kinder polemic, one that offers a real future to invest in. Socialism isn’t a dirty word of bygone days, it’s living, vibrant and absolutely relevant in these hellish times. It has a future. The last election proved that and yet the 7 traitors have sought to deny this flourishing movement and alongside it, the lives of those whom this Government cares so little about.
If there’s slim chance of bringing Labour MP’s to heel, restoring the Party’s core values and objectives by ultimately putting the needs of many before the few then what hope do any of us have? 😢
