D-Day - A 70 Year Commemoration

It's been 70 years since the liberation of France and it's important that we take this time to remember the thousands who fell on that day. Although the allies secured victory we need to remind ourselves that the beast of fascism is still very much alive and un-slain, continuing to reek it's tyranny across Europe. During the austerity years, fascism has risen up, woken from its slumber and preyed on those weak in mindset, dividing neighbour against neighbour, blaming those who are blameless. Fronted by many different faces from numerous nationalistic parties, all preaching the same hate filled rhetoric akin to Hitler and Mussolini.

Nothing changes does it?

History is written in books but do people learn from it? The resounding reply is, "No". Surely the biggest tribute we can offer to those who sacrificed themselves is to turn our backs once and for all on fascism and extreme right-wing politics. Only then shall we truly be liberated.
