The Fire

The fire awakens

I always see the fire in her eyes

Yet my gas soaked hands can't resist a touch

And even as my soul is scorched

I'm lost in the brilliance of the blaze

like passing a scene of chaos

My eyes are incapable of looking another direction

Our days of perfection shattered by moments of uncertainty

Fearful resentment brings evil from the tongue

The fire awakens

Freezing from the cold of the world I push closer

The heat from her makes my blood flow again

It Cures the pain of the freeze and I draw closer

Again lost in the brilliance of the blaze, I yearn to touch

My brain warns of the pain

My heart loves the beauty of the scene

Hand extended and,

The fire awakens

Drawing back at the initial burn

Yet unable to control my desire once again

I close my eyes and reach in with both hands

The fire consumes me

However the burn of the fire is welcome over the cold of the outskirts

I have given myself to her

I am part of her

I now fuel her existence

The fire awakens
