Mr. President

Some of you don't know how it felt to see a reflection of yourself become a leader.

for years some of us never knew what winners looked like.

Because it was rare for a person of color to be in a position of major power...

For years some of us never knew what family looked like...

Because most black families are not together

Mr. President

You held your daughters hands and protected them, you encouraged them to be all they could be, when they made mistakes you were there to protect them from the cold world , yet teach them the right way.

Mr. President you gave me a father figure to look up to...

Because mines was taken when i was 5 and put behind bars for life...

You showed me what real love looks like...

Because for years you held your black queen up and your smile lit up a room when she entered.

You showed me that I could walk into a room and be proud... Proud of the skin I was in.

Because My President made it clear that black was powerful , respectful , honest , loving, intelligent , and okay.

Mr. President

Tears fall because some generations will only hear stories of how great you were....

Tears fall because some of us respect you so much..

Tears fall because we know you gave any man after or before you bigger shoes to fill...

Tears fall because we know that this is goodbye and we would like you to stay.

Separation issues i guess you can call them daddy issues...

But Mr. President we are forever thankful for you and your family ,

Because for 8 years you represented black is beautiful , black is powerful , and that black matters...

We appreciate all that you have done and how graceful you and your family have been.

And we will forever remember you as good man.
