Instagram Issues

Time for a rant because I'm in a grumpy frame of mind...

Ok, so I'm new to the world of Instagram but by God, I'm convinced it's nothing more than a repository of vapid vanity and useless, feckless egotism.

Every bloody post from pouting 'duck face' females aged between 18-25 with skip full, caked on drag makeup on a Sunday at 12pm, really is turgid.

Oh and they're all aspiring makeup artists too...dontcha know?!!

I'd love for them to don a 70's boiler suit, get a spanner out and start tinkering with the pipes under the sink, claiming, "I'm an aspiring plumber, please follow my account!"

We're swimming at the moment in a cesspit of vacuous, appearance focused bullshit and I cannot see an end to it, especially when you've got supposed 'role models' like the egregious Kardashians all over the media.

I love makeup. I dream about it. I'm obsessed with it and I buy at least something new every time I go out but I don't plaster it on day in day out as though I'm off to an A list celebrity soiree.

I've even seen a girl in Manchester pull a massive full face mirror out of her bag having finished her lunch, just to fix her pristine matte liquid lipstick that she'd applied earlier. It's getting frankly ridiculous!

I'm not saying don't love makeup but there are SO many other hobbies a girl can get involved in that would show them a different side to life. Not just pastimes that teach people the value of how they look or how they SHOULD look in order to fit into this skewed, competitive society. What worries me is that we're breeding a nation founded on narcissism and nothing else.

For me, the best part about Instagram is getting filthy, flirty messages from young lads! ;)

Also, what's the deal with young people taking pictures of their feet/shoes. Can someone elaborate please?
