Opening Lockets, Books, and Doors
i am a LOCKET, fresh out the box. new. i open up easily and the picture that rest inside my brass bedding is of us. is of you. is of me. is of whatever you want it to be.
i am a BOOK, that fell off the highest shelf at the library. i am not moby dick. i am not frankenstein, i am not the scarlet letter, and i am for sure not the bible. i am just a dust draped loner that has received little interaction. i'm merely a chapter book written for young adults, a science fiction chronicle involving a lion and maybe magical beans. i am an untouched book.
i am a DOOR. made of wood, that creaks severely when pushed too quickly. i am a paint chipped, slowly molding, splinter filled unattractive exit or entrance through the always way too cold basement.
needless to say i too, open and close.
and open i am if anyone gave me a chance.
you'd see inside the frame of the heart shaped LOCKET holds dreams.
and the BOOK that fell face flat on the floor just needs to be dusted off yet it still has a story to tell. i was written for a reason and i'm still writing. and yes there are pages i wish to rip out but i can't so i keep writing, hoping to drown the bad pages in a sea full of laughter and more
and yes even that DOOR, i am that door! i may not be the most visually appealing but i am a portal. i am the way. because we all know the saying "when one door closes, another one opens" so you too are a door, we are all doors leading somewhere. all you have to do is walk through me or you or them.
you see?
open we must be,
to let the good in
and let the bad out.
open so we can overflow.
so we can swim in our own positivity.
open so we can paddle forward.
open to lead us to a utopia
made for kings and queens.
open...
we must be.
