Tangled

Believe me when I tell you

That our souls were Tangled

Intertwined, as though woven

Twisted so tightly

Wrapped in one another

And completely bound together

We strengthened one another

And lived each other’s pain

Which is why the unraveling

Became so complicated

We couldn’t simply

Go our own way

Or just separate

We were bound and knotted

Tangled

It required slow

And painful disentanglement

Piece by piece

Knot by knot

Reliving every memory

Remembering every misstep

Feeling every touch one last time

Confused as to how

A beautifully woven tapestry of souls

Became painfully entangled

Now we are free

Free of every twist and knot

No longer bound together

But I think I have found

More life worth living

Not in freedom

But In being Tangled
