Black Men

Black men...

So full of hurt... So full of anger !

The pain has been passed down from generation to generation...

Can't blame you...

Separated from your family and beaten down...

Who knows what it's like to not have a father ?

Who knows how it feels to be hunted...

Like animals our black men are hunted and although they aren't posted on your walls for praise...

These black men are forever praised in our hearts....

Posted on our walls...

What a life... To grow up and have a fear of being shot down...

What a life to grow up without a father !

Black men I am sorry we have failed you...

Failed to keep you safe...

Failed to educate you...

Failed to respect you...

I worry everyday because my cousins and nephew are black and in this world so cold...

I worry because I want them to have a chance...

I cry because I know someone with privilege can take that chance before they even have it !

Black men I apologize for the pain you've had to endure...

Carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders...

Who knows how it feels to stand in front of someone and be judge by the color of you skin...

Who is fighting this silent war with us ?

Everyday they teach us that race doesn't matter.

But it doesn't matter to those who never had to worry about being black !

Black men I'm sorry for the times we forgot to stand beside you !

Black men we can't make this better without you...

We can't keep losing you to these cold streets...
