In A Big Country
I for one am pleased the Jocks have rejected separatism in favour of remaining in the UK. It would've left all of the Northern cities vulnerable to venal Tory policy implementation along with exposing weaknesses in governing our own affairs. Not to mention undoing centuries of inclusion.
That's not to say Scotland would've been incapable of self-rule, far from it. In fact, I'd say they'd have done a better job of it than Westminster. Central Government has had it's hand forced towards delegating more powers to respective parliaments in the UK and that can only be a good thing. Now all we need is for cities like Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle etc to be given carte blanche to make their own policies applicable to their regions.
At least James the 1st will sleep easy in his coffin tonight!
