First times again

I’ll never forget the first time I saw you walking my way

Or the way I felt the first time you grabbed my hand

I’ll always love the way we giggled the first time you drank a little too much and fell down in the back yard

Or first time you helped me understand that I didn’t have to be perfect everyday

I still laugh at the first time we got a little bored and spent 4 hours and $400 in that record store

Or how mad you got the first time I jumped out from behind a door to scare you

But my favorite will always be the first time I saw yours eyes light up with joy over a sunset

Or the first time we closed the world off and loved the night away

It’s a shame that all faded away that day in May

So much time spent wandering in the dark

Coming out the other side I don’t recognize you and you don’t recognize me

We aren’t who we were before

but since we’re both still standing here

Maybe we could do our first times again

I could hold your hand for the first time again

You could get a little tipsy for the first time again

We could waste too much time in the record store for the first time again

We could watch the sun set for the first time again

We could fall in love for the first time again

And just maybe

That dark road we traveled won’t seem so bad anymore

If we can do our first times again
