The Growth
as i got older i realized the world isn't exactly as it seemed. i thought the world was perfect. that we ourselves weren't the ones hurting it. that the world was encumbered by magic. that anything i wanted in this world, i could have it. as i child i truly believed a mere human could do no wrong but, sadly i was also wrong.
days passed, years did too.
and with age came knowledge
and knowledge became power,
power that made my mind bloom
into the most beautiful flower.
unfortunately, this flower began to decay
and along with my mind
my heart was lead astray.
it was within this moment the world lost some of its enchantment and i was left at a disadvantage, because i didn't believe people shot up schools and killed babies, i didn't believe people beat sweet old ladies, i didn't believe a catastrophic earthquake would hit Haiti, i didn't believe most of us wouldn't live to see 80, i didn't believe there was no such thing such as safety, i don't believe the world is a safe haven as of lately.
i always believed life to be all rainbows and butterflies. clear skies and apple pies until i took a look into your eyes and to my surprise i saw our demise. you fled and my heart bled but finally the tears dried and i looked up to the skies and i recall a word from the wise saying don't focus on the past because the future always holds a surprise.
