"Old England's Done!"

It's a sad, sad day for democracy! I said this last year during the Election and I'll say it again, we do not live in a kind, compassionate and inclusive country. We are a small minded, xenophobic, casually racist, 'little island' mentality nation with pseudo fascist leanings. Easily led, we are as pliable as Play-Doh™ in the evil hands of the Establishment and Right-Wing head honchos who manipulate us into believing that a hard working EU citizen is to blame for the failures of the economy and society.

My Dad was one of the original 'Auf Wiedersehen Pet' generation, having become fluent in German during his time in the army. He was able to translate for the lads on the building sites, earning a lucrative career when this country was being decimated by Thatcher and her cronies during the 80's. Sadly, our young people will never benefit from that freedom of movement.

The politics of fear, hate and loathing have won once again. We are now more isolated as a nation than ever. Expect the NHS to be sold off and workers rights to go down the bog. Protection from the EU has been well and truly 'returned to sender'.

I'm frankly ashamed to be English. I'm unable to leave this country but if I could, I'd be off like a shot!
