Forgotten

It was dark and lonely

I was overcome by the most uncomfortable silence

I can still feel the painful cold, piercing me

There was no light in any direction

I was lost and confused

My chest grew heavy, my breathing was labored

My heart raced, my blood pressure rose

My thoughts no longer mine, sporadic at best

There’s an emptiness consuming me

Then, reality graces me

I stare at walls that I have built

I’m not lost, I am forgotten

In the darkest part of her heart

... and I was the one that flipped out the light
