Poem
You can use Werdsmith to create beautiful, perfectly formatted poems and share them with other writers or poets.
You can capture poetry ideas on the go, and share to social media when you're finished.
Poems are formatted as per poetry standards, in a monospaced font and with trailing lines indented, like so:
Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely and containest more text than can easily fit on a single line.
Headings
If you'd like to create a heading in your poem, for example to split up a suite of poems, just type a "#" at the beginning of a line, followed by a space.
# Poem 2: The Dark of Night
You can add bold, italics and hidden notes to your text by selecting a word (or group of words) and choosing a formatting option.
Instead of confusing formatting that you can't see, we add asterisks around the highlighted words, so you can easily change the formatting as you write.
The easiest way to use the formatting buttons is to highlight a word and press "bold" or "italics". You can also type the asterisks manually.
The asterisks are hidden when you finish editing, and they aren't shown to your readers if you share your project.
It was *dark* and I mean **really dark**.
Hidden Notes
To write a note-to-self, surround your text in curly brackets. These notes will be hidden from your readers.
My love, I would die without you! {Too melodramatic?}
